Apply to be a 2020 Fellow

Delta brings a passion for data and top notch technical talent to drive change in the non-profit world.
FAQ

Who you are

You have deep technical knowledge of data science, engineering, or data visualization and want to help the world. In your professional life, you might serve as an economic consultant, a data scientist, data analyst, or a software engineer at a technology firm. Your technical skills and love of data have brought you professional success, and your drive to make an impact has brought you to us. It's time to focus your efforts on bringing the best in data to the nonprofit world.

Delta fellows work in two key areas: data consulting and teaching.

DATA FELLOWS
2020 APPLICATION CLOSED

Apply
  • Technical consultants who give their time to help our partner non-profits drive impact across the world. You will find trends and new opportunities for a nonprofit, quantify their impact, or set up data infrastructure built for longevity. You will find unique challenges serving clients from around the world.
  • Our partner nonprofits drive change in many spaces. For example, Village Enterprises is devoted to alleviating extreme poverty in rural Africa; Transforming Education is effecting change to the education system by bringing students key success skills related to Mindsets, Essential Skills, and Habits (MESH); Tenants Together is effecting change locally to San Francisco by working for tenant advocacy rights.

TEACHING FELLOWS
2020 APPLICATION CLOSED

 CLOSED
  • Curriculum developers, teachers, and data enthusiasts who partner with engineering schools across the world to build technical capacity and make machine learning accessible. We believe that data is powerful, and anyone should be able to leverage it for good.
  • Learn more about our machine learning for good program here, which describes our pilot program in Nairobi, Kenya. In 2018, we brought our class to Agadir, Morocco. We intend to bring the course to 2 partners in 2019, as well as teach locally in the San Francisco Bay Area.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
  • Time expectations are 5-10 hours per week, with monthly cohort-wide Saturday working sessions in the city of San Francisco.
  • At this time, we are only accepting applicants living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • This fellowship is a 6-month commitment that you make to your team. Our cohort cycle is typically January to July of each year.
  • As part of your volunteer experience with Delta, you will grow your technical, personal, and interpersonal skills. You will also be joining a community of like-minded, data-driven and passionate people, forming lifelong friends and connections.
BEFORE YOU APPLY
Please note that both the Delta Data and Teaching Fellowship is a 6-month commitment that you make to your team and to your non-profit client. The typical time commitment is 5-10 hours per week, with monthly cohort-wide Sunday working sessions. Additionally, at this time we are only accepting applicants living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
