Who you are
You bring deep experience in data science, engineering, or data analysis; you have demonstrated yourself as a strong team or project leader; and now you want to help the world. In your professional life, you might serve as a technical or team lead in economic consulting, data science, data analysis, or software engineering. You are looking to lead and grow a team of data fellows while bringing your talent and expertise nonprofit world.

Project Leads
- Technical project leads who are looking to lead a team of fellows, and engage with our nonprofit partners to drive impact across the world. You will use your expertise to lead your team in finding trends and new opportunities for a nonprofit, quantify their impact, or set up data infrastructure built for longevity. You are a key component in Delta's Data Service Grant program - working with Delta leadership, your team of data fellows, and your nonprofit partner creating a successful project.
- Our partner nonprofits drive change in many spaces. For example, Village Enterprises is devoted to alleviating extreme poverty in rural Africa; Transforming Education is effecting change to the education system by bringing students key success skills related to Mindsets, Essential Skills, and Habits (MESH); Tenants Together is effecting change locally to San Francisco by working for tenant advocacy rights.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
- Time expectations are 7-12 hours per week, with monthly cohort-wide Saturday working sessions in the city of San Francisco or remotely.
- This fellowship is a 6-month commitment that you make to your team. Our cohort cycle is typically January to July of each year. Project leads will begin earlier, selecting projects and scoping projects so your team can begin quickly in January.
- An exciting change for 2022 is project leads will help interview nonprofit partners that they are interested in working with. You'll have the opportunity to find the partner that most matches your skillset and interest.
- As part of your volunteer experience with Delta, you will grow your technical, personal, and interpersonal skills. You will also be joining a community of like-minded, data-driven and passionate people, forming lifelong friends and connections.
BEFORE YOU APPLY
Please note that becoming Delta Project Lead is a 6-month commitment that you make to your team and to your non-profit client. The typical time commitment is 7-12 hours per week, with monthly cohort-wide Sunday working sessions.
Application Process for Project Leads
Step 1: Application
Deadline for next round of interviews: October 31st, 2022 We review applications on a rolling basis. Fill out the application. The application helps Delta learn more about you and your interests. If you are unsure of any part of the application, please reach out to us through our contact form! |
Step 2: Interview
October-November 2022 After reviewing applications, we will invite candidates to interview so we can get to know you better and learn about your professional background and interests. We will schedule interviews at times convenient to you via video chat. |
Step 3: Selection
November 2022 We will notify project leads of their acceptance in late October to early November. Once selected you will have the opportunity to help interview potential nonprofit partners that interest you, so you'll be able to pick a project most meaningful to you. |
